Gamblers Anonymous meetings take place on Thursday evenings, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at Jordan Hospital. Gamblers Anonymous is a 12-Step Recovery Program: Aside from the obvious financial insecurity that compulsive gambling can generate, problem gambling has been shown to be a contributing cause of: 1) acute dysfunction within family settings; 2) partial or wholly compromised academics & careers; 3) developing or realized legal problems; 4) and severe psychological distress. It is estimated that less than 10% of those with gambling problems voluntarily seek treatment. A gambler is permitted to bring along a spouse, friend, coworker, etc… to his/her first meeting for moral support and/or out of logistical need. Protection of a gambler’s anonymity is fundamental and remains the guiding principal of the program. The ONLY requirement for GA membership is a desire to stop gambling. There are absolutely no dues or fees for membership or continued participation.
