Childbirth and Family Education
A six-week series of classes covers exercise, breathing and relaxation techniques to prepare for labor and delivery. After delivery, an additional class allows couples to discuss their childbirth experience and early parenting concerns. Register at the beginning of your second trimester to ensure a convenient class for you.

Receive valuable guidance from a Certified Childbirth Educator on a variety of childcare topics, including baby bathing, equipment needs, infant safety, behavior patterns and choosing a pediatrician. Pre-registration is required.

To assist and encourage women in successful breastfeeding, these classes discuss the anatomy of the breast and milk production, positioning and latch, the physical and emotional needs of parents and infants, and expectations of breastfeeding. Taught by an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Supportive family members are encouraged to attend. Pre-registration is preferred.

This advanced course is designed for mothers on maternity leave who are currently breastfeeding or have taken our Art of Breastfeeding course. Register before you return to work. Babies are welcome.

An innovative workshop for first-time fathers with the mission of bringing out the best in new dads. Led by Boot Camp veterans and their babies, under the direction of a trained coach, this program enables new fathers to step up to the challenges of being a dad and feel confident about bringing their new baby home. Men training other men is a powerful formula for fatherhood success. Boot Camp veterans also benefit from networking and mutual support when they return with their babies to a future workshop.

The focus of this class is common concerns and questions about caring for a new infant. Topics include child care, illness, nutrition, sleep habits, infant growth and development and lifestyle changes. A Certified Childbirth Educator leads discussions. Pre-registration is preferred.

Active Parenting 1,2,3,4
Helps parents face the special challenges of caring for children ages 1 to 4. It teaches parents the basic developmental stages and non-violent discipline skills, problemprevention techniques, encouragement skills, the importance of a child’s self-esteem and parental self-care. Active Parenting of Teens
Focuses on skills parents need to communicate effectively with pre-teens and teens, to encourage better behavior, use positive discipline techniques and teach responsibility. Program includes teen developmental issues and active problem-solving techniques. Scheduled on an as-needed basis by Sue West at 508-830-2929.

On Bedrest: Childbirth Preparation Kit
Childbirth educational materials can be rented for two weeks. Three videos, a childbirth preparation booklet and a CD & tape on relaxation are included. Fee is $20 for a two-week rental. A deposit of $50 is required, which will be refunded upon return of the entire kit.
