Pastoral Care at Jordan Hospital provides interfaith spiritual care and support for patients, their families, visitors and the staff. Pastoral care encompasses care of the total person including their physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs. A part time interfaith chaplain and director of pastoral care services ministers at Jordan Hospital four days during the week. A retired area minister is available on call for crisis pastoral needs that arise after regular hours. Patients may always receive visits from clergy of their own denomination. The interfaith chaplain is available to call a patient’s personal clergy person if requested.
A part time Coordinator of Catholic Pastoral Services is in the hospital weekdays. This position is funded by the Boston Archdiocese. The Catholic chaplain visits with patients, and coordinates the ministry of the local priests who visit the hospital daily. She also coordinates the volunteers who visit the hospital to offer Holy Communion to patients.
There is an interfaith chapel/meditation room on 3East that is open 24 hours a day. A book for the prayer concerns of staff, patients and visitors is located on the altar.
There are continuously playing spiritual videos and meditations on the hospital Channel 40. The Catholic Mass is available on PAX channel 11(paid) Monday –Friday at 9:30 am and Sunday WHDH channel 17 (paid) at 7:30 am.
